Chirikli Collective at the 2011 International Romani Educational Camp.
Chirikli Collective will be participating in the 18th International Romani Educational Camp in Murska Sobota, Slovenia, taking place this summer between August 8th and13th.
This is an annual educational week, this year featuring ex-Yugoslavian educators Dr. Rajko Djurić, Dragoljub Acković, Dr. Ljatif Demir, Hedina Tahirović Sijerčić, Dr. Vesna Čipčić, Jožek Horvat, Monika Horvat, Orhan Galjuš and others.
Chirikli Collective / Hedina Tahirović Sijerčić will present on five themes:
- Written literature of Roma in Bosnia and Herzegovina
- Romani Newcomers to Canada – identity issues
- Democratization of education (person – nation); where is the place for Roma in democratization of education in Bosnia and Herzegovina; democratization and public opinion
- Conflicts in the family and non-violent solutions
- Education of Romani children in exile: Hedina’s experiences working with children in Germany and Canada; and the needs of refugee children and their education
